Our Tahoe Cabin

Snowed In

One weekend. One storm.
The adventure is right here.

Friday night

The cabin is waiting

Already blanketed in snow.

Friday · 5:10 PM

The walk in

We pull in right behind the storm. Reggie leads the way to the lit windows.

Friday · 5:25 PM

First run

The bags are still in the car. Somebody’s already sledding down the driveway, Rubble right behind.

Friday · 5:40 PM

First fire

The bags can wait. The stove can't.

Friday · 7:00 PM

Still coming down

Six inches and counting. Nobody minds.

Home base

Every adventure this weekend starts here, and comes back here.

By morning, every trail will be buried. Tomorrow, we dig.

Saturday morning

The road is gone

We wake up to snow. The only color left: one red hydrant.

Saturday · 8:00 AM

Step outside

Boots on. The deck is a snowbank, and the van is a snowdrift.

Saturday · 11:00 AM

Firewood run

In a blizzard, the woodpile is an expedition. The sled does the hauling.

Saturday · 3:30 PM

Gear up

Snowshoes by the front door, standing in the snowbank right where we left them.

Saturday · 3:45 PM

Reggie’s trail

Out the door, around the sled hill, all the way to Old Greenwood. Reggie leads.

Saturday · 4:00 PM

Cut a trail

No lift lines. No traffic. We break trail through the powder, and the dogs follow single file.

Saturday night

Nobody's going anywhere

The best kind of stuck.

Saturday · 7:30 PM

Night in

A puzzle on the table. Reggie asleep by the tree. Somebody’s napping.

Saturday · 9:00 PM

Keep it going

One more log before bed.

Saturday · 10:30 PM

One more look

The snow finally stops. One last look at the tree out front.

Sunday

Snowed in

Overnight, the storm moved on. Everything’s buried.

Sunday · 7:30 AM

Dig out

All hands on deck. Mom takes the snowblower: a path to the door, then the car, then the deck.

Sunday · 8:30 AM

And then, the sun

The driveway’s clear. The van is still wearing the storm.

Sunday · 11:00 AM

The adventure is right here

The big one: down the pile we shoveled yesterday.

Sunday · 11:30 AM

Pile on

Every run ends the same way: Reggie.

no regrets

Sunday · 12:30 PM

Rubble’s turn

Rubble rides the tube. Reggie chases everybody.

The snowman

Every snow day needs one.

Sunday · 3:00 PM

The road is back

The plow came through. Nobody’s in a hurry.

See you next storm.
